Devotees of Jesus the Nazarene flocked to Manila yesterday, January 9, for the annual Black Nazarene procession.

Perhaps the Philippines’ biggest annual religious procession, the Black Nazarene crowd yesterday reached over nine million according to police estimates. And although the procession took just over 10 hours in recent years, this time it was a grueling 18-hour transfer from the Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church, a distance of three kilometers.
